Mrs. Tracey Houston

For 25 years, I taught English, Speech, Journalism, Reading, Leadership, and Drama in grades 6-12.  In 2009, I made a decision to fulfill my dream of being a library media specialist and became the librarian at Middleton Middle School. My experience working in the MMS Library has shown me that I have the best job in the world!  Everyday, I get to help students choose books they will enjoy, teach library lessons, plan lessons with teachers, and share my love of reading with others.  There is nothing better than having a student tell me that he/she loved a book that I suggested. Hopefully, that process starts the student on a new journey:  a desire to read more and to develop a lifelong love of reading.  I don’t run the library by myself; I am assisted by 18 talented student library aides.  I could not reach out to so many students without their help and support. They help me make our library a creative hub of reading, researching, and technology.

I call myself a True Idaho Native.  Born and raised in Caldwell, I have also lived in Moscow, Nampa, Pocatello, Soda Springs, Orofino, Kellogg, Kamiah, and now Emmett.  Kurt, my husband for 36 years, is now retired, so we are currently enjoying planning vacations to new places.  Kurt and I are blessed with one son, Brent, who inspires me everyday with his determination and insights.  In my spare time, I read, play Words With Friends, and act and direct for the Emmett Community Playhouse.  Go Vandals!
