Ms. Sheri Burke

Hello! My name is Sheri Burke.

I've spent most of my teaching career in the Middleton School District and both of my children are Middleton High School graduates. I've seen our community change through the years. I remember when all the Middle School kids fit into Annex A, when the gym was across from the band room in the old high school, and what the country looked like before Purple Sage was built. I've taught at Mill Creek, Purple Sage, and I'm currently teaching English Language Arts to 7th graders on our Middle School Campus. I believe our Middle School is close to 900 students now! We've come a long way.

I received my BA in Elementary Education K-8, and graduated with honors from Boise State University in 1998. I earned my Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Northwest Nazarene University in 2008, where I graduated with highest honors. I have taught all elementary grades, with the exception of kindergarten and second grades, middle school math, reading, and language arts. I've taught 6-8 summer school, have been the summer school principal, and spent time in West Ada as an Elementary Vice Principal. I love teaching and enjoy watching "my kids" as they grow and begin this journey we call life. I don't know how many students I've taught, but when I look back at pictures, I can remember every single one of them.

For the second year, I am proud to represent Region 3 as the Human and Civil Rights Representative. We assist school districts around the state in combating institutional racism and bullying; creating an environment where all of our students feel safe and wanted, regardless of their race, religion, gender, or socioeconomic status. Cyber bullying continues to plague us and I encourage you to check and monitor your children's technology, often.

I enjoy many hobbies. I've been a counted cross stitch, "stitcher" for over 30 years. I've finished a project or two and even won a few ribbons at the fair. Travelling is one of my favorite summer activities and this past summer I spent time in upstate New York and New York City. But, my favorite thing to do is spend time with my 82 year old mother, my children, and grandchildren. My daughter is going to have another baby in October and I'm looking forward to that!

Teaching is an incredible job and I can't imagine doing anything else. Your children are in good hands with us. We care about them, worry about them, encourage them, and sometimes even take their phones away.  I'm so excited to be sharing another school year with you and your children!

Warmest Regards,

Ms. Burke
