Teaching is one of my greatest passions in life. I believe in a community centered classroom that includes students in the learning process. My classroom management style has developed over the years and many ideas I have learned from assisting/substitute teaching in classrooms for the past 16 years. Many years prior to teaching I served in the United States Army at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C. as a Patient Administration Supervisor, running one of the largest Pre-Admission offices in the country at that time.  After my service in the military, I worked several more years as a Medical Front Office Secretary and Medical Benefits Specialist. Following my younger years, I chose to stay home with my 3 children for a stint of 10 years before returning to college to learn to teach.

I attended Boise State University to complete my Bachelors of the Arts in Elementary Education.  During that process I student taught at Mill Creek Elementary School right here in the Middleton School District. I graduated in December 2013, and began working with the school district as a reading and math intervention specialist. In August 2014 I accepted a position at Middleton Middle School and have been here since.  I love teaching at the Middle School level!

I LOVE the process of reflection and change. It means I'm growing. I also stress to my students that reflection and responsibility are good character traits to have as a student.  Although my focus has been in science, I believe there are many life lessons that can be taught and learned in the classroom both through team and individual work.

6th Grade is a HUGE transition year for our students.  They learn to move between classes to different teachers, and they have more homework than they have had previous years.  It's important for us all to focus on prioritizing our schedules, homework, and fun.  Make sure your 6th grade student is using their student planners!

Let's make it a great year at MMS!
