Mrs. Tiffany Caagbay
My name is Tiffany Caagbay. I have been a classroom teacher for almost seventeen years and am venturing onto a new path as the GT facilitator of Heights and Purple Sage Elementary. I have a special place in my heart for our gifted population. As a parent to the gifted, I identify with the unique strengths and struggles that our gifted students experience within their classrooms and communities. I love learning and working with kids, and feel my purpose is to grow gardens of capability, independence and perseverence within the minds and hearts of my students. I have a passion for the promise of the public education system, and believe that all students deserve to be challenged. Furthermore, I aspire to construct safe learning environments that both motivate children and nurture their curiosity. Research shows that qualities like perseverance, passion, and hard work are better predictors of success than ability. I am inspired by this research and use it to push my students to develop a "can do" approach to all obstacles they encounter - an area that can be especially challenging for the gifted student to overcome. One of the first things I tell my students is, "Mistakes are our best teachers." I want my students to become resilient to roadblocks and setbacks by seeing them as opportunities to refine themselves and grow.
On a personal level, I am married with two sons. As a family, we enjoy movie nights, nature hikes and long road trips! I enjoy reading many different genres of books, going antique shopping, and learning about history.
Thank you for stopping by! I look forward to working with each of my families in the coming year!
