Mrs. Kristina Nordby

Greetings!  My name is Kristina Nordby and I am blessed to have a position as a second grade teacher at Purple Sage Elementary in Middleton, Idaho.  I started teaching in 2015 and have taught first grade and currently teach second grade.  I student taught in both second grade, and fifth/sixth grade combo classrooms through Boise State University, where I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education in 2015.  I was accepted into and have completed the Idaho Core Teachers program in the 2016-2017 school year.  As an Idaho Core teacher, I had the opportunity to work monthly with other selected K-12 educators across the state of Idaho to both study and learn new ways to continue to advance student learning in all subject areas with an emphasis on unit building, reading, writing and literacy. I am a former member of both the district math adoption commity, as well as the district ELA adoption commity, and am currently a member of the science adoption commitee (2019-2020) school year. I served as a member of the district math leadership commitee for two years (2017-2019) and am currently on the K-5 curriculum commity (2019-2020), where I represent teachers throughout the district and do extensive curriculum work in all subjects with other K-5 teachers throughout the district as well. I also serve as a member of the Middleton School District Technology Integration Advisory Team (TIAT) (2017-present) where I help provide training and technology support to other teachers and staff throughoutght the Middleton School District in a variety of different areas as needed.

I am passionate about student learning. I believe that through continuous positive encouragement, compassion, patience, and understanding of each childs’ individual learning needs, every child can achieve educational success.  I also believe in teaching children to develop self-responsibility for their learning and a mindset to never give up.  Every child has unique academic and personal qualities and is special in their own way. It is important that they feel welcome to let these qualities shine in a warm, welcoming learning environment.  I am dedicated to making a difference in the lives of my students' each year and am fortunate to have the most rewarding career as an educator.  Aside from being a mother/parent, I believe that there is no greater gift than being a teacher.
