Hi!

My name is Katie Ward & I am so thrilled to be your child’s 3rd grade teacher this year!!  This sounds super cliche, but from a young age, I always knew that I wanted to be a teacher!  I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education from Utah State University with an emphasis in English as a Second Language (ESL) in 2005. This will be my 11th year teaching.  I have taught one year of 4th grade, five years of preschool & this will be my fifth year teaching 3rd grade. I also worked as a paraprofessional/EA for two years at PSE while waiting for a teaching position to become available!  I simply ADORE all of the staff, students & parents at Purple Sage—I sure love my Purple People!!

I am a firm believer in positive reinforcement & making learning FUN!!  I want each of my students to feel valued & special.  I especially love recognizing & celebrating their successes—no matter how big or small!

My husband & I have two teenagers--a daughter & a son!  When I am not teaching or at their activities, I enjoy camping, fishing, 4-wheeling, working on bright, colorful puzzles, gardening & spending time with my family!

Parent communication is so important to me.  Working together as a team is the best way we can support your child!  My door is always open!!  Please feel free to contact me anytime!!
