Mrs. Stephanie Smith

My name is Stephanie Smith and I work as a counselor at Middleton High School. Let me first start by saying, I am so excited to have the privilege and opportunity to work with you and your child. Here is a little about me.

Prior to working in Middleton, I worked for the Emmett School District as a middle school counselor. Outside of my role as a school counselor, I also work in private mental health as a therapist, specializing in play therapy.  In 2010, I earned my undergraduate degree in from Northwest Nazarene University, majoring in Social Work and minoring in Criminal Justice. I went on to earn my Master of Social Work degree from Boise State University, in 2015. I am licensed through the State of Idaho as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), and am working towards my Registered Paly Therapy certification.

I have several years’ experience working with children and families. Such experience includes school counseling, play therapy, developmental disabilities, family preservation services, case management, individual and group treatment, and at-risk adolescents in residential treatment. I practice from a strength based/solution focused perspective and incorporate a prescriptive approach with those I am working with. My greatest passion is to assist children, youth, and their families in developing and applying the skills necessary to find confidence and success in all areas of life.

I believe the most important role I have is as a wife and a mother. I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 20+ years, and we have five beautiful children, whom I am very proud of.  As a family we are actively involved in our community. I spend most of my free time cheering on my children and students in their athletic and academic events. As a family we enjoy the outdoors, especially camping, hiking and spending time at Stanley Lake. Personally, I love to learn and develop new skills, new relationships, and new memories.

Once again, I am thrilled to be a part of the Middleton School District, and I look forward to being a positive support to everyone I have the opportunity to work with!

Sincerely,

Stephanie Smith, LMSW
