Mrs. Jessica McLenna

Welcome future first-graders and parents! I am very excited to meet you and to be your first-grade teacher! This will be my eighth year teaching and I have taught first grade, second grade, and fifth grade too.

I am very hands-on/ minds-on and because of this, I hold very high expectations for my students. I believe that students should be engaged and excited to be in the classroom and I believe it is my job and passion to create an environment where students are free to experiment, explore, and experience new things. My students and I collaborate and work together to create a classroom where everyone’s voice is heard and everyone feels valued and respected. I believe that every person can teach us something, and as such, I believe our parents have the potential to be great resources. I welcome parents to participate and volunteer in our classroom. If you have any interest in volunteering in our classroom I encourage you to contact me or sign up on the webpage link on the "volunteer form" tab.

Communication is very important to me and this year I am hoping to utilize our take-home folders as our link for home and school. These folders are black and will hold important papers, student work, and homework. Please be sure that students turn-in their folders every Thursday so I am able to “stuff them” over the weekend and keep you informed on student progress. I utilize our school website too and you are able to view our class page for additional resources. I also encourage you to sign up for our Class Dojo App where you choose to sign up with either email or cell phone text messages. This tool allows me to quickly send reminders or notes to all parents. It is a safe place to post pictures too since only parents will have access. Let me know if you need any help finding or getting set up!
