Welcome to Integrated Math I Lab.
We are excited about our math curriculum this year. This is an amazing curriculum that is designed to engage all students in learning mathematics through problem solving, reasoning, and communication. The curriculum provider is CPM and it "envisions a world where mathematics is viewed as intriguing and useful, and is appreciated by all; where powerful mathematical thinking is an essential, universal, and desirable trait; and where people are empowered by mathematical problem-solving and reasoning to solve the world’s problems". (CPM.org)
This course is an elective credit designed to help students keep up with the rigor of the Math I course. It will also help them remaster arithmatic fluency and increase problem solving skills. Students need to be ready to work hard every day. Students need to bring their Math I homework and notes with them every day as well as their school computer. It will also be helpful for studnets to have your own scientific calculator to speed up the number crunching process. Just as important is something to write with. I recommend pencil, but it is also useful to have a couple different colored pens, two or three colored pencil and/or highlighters of different colors.
Please utilize the CPM website for this course. There are fantastic resources available to both parents and studneeets at http://cpm.org/int1. On the left hand side of the CPM.org/int1 website you will find etools/videos, homework help, parent guide with extra practice and resource pages. These are provided as a resource to help both the student succeed and for parents to understand what is going on in the classroom. Please read throught the course discription provided by CPM, found using the link to the right labeled "CPM's Math 1 Course Discription".
